WASHINGTON DC -- The long awaited US military attack on Iran is now on track for the first week of April, specifically for 4 AM on April 6, the Good Friday opening of Easter weekend, writes the well-known Russian journalist Andrei Uglanov in the Moscow weekly "Argumenty Nedeli." Uglanov cites Russian military experts close to the Russian General Staff for his account.

The attack is slated to last for twelve hours, according to Uglanov, lasting from 4 AM until 4 PM local time. Friday is a holiday in Iran. In the course of the attack, code named Operation Bite, about 20 targets are marked for bombing; the list includes uranium enrichment facilities, research centers, and laboratories.

The first reactor at the Bushehr nuclear plant, where Russian engineers are working, is supposed to be spared from destruction. The US attack plan reportedly calls for the Iranian air defense system to be degraded, for numerous Iranian warships to be sunk in the Persian Gulf, and the for the most important headquarters of the Iranian armed forces to be wiped out.

The attacks will be mounted from a number of bases, including the island of Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean. Diego Garcia is currently home to B-52 bombers equipped with standoff missiles. Also participating in the air strikes will be US naval aviation from aircraft carriers in the Persian Gulf, as well as from those of the Sixth Fleet in the Mediterranean. Additional cruise missiles will be fired from submarines in the Indian Ocean and off the coast of the Arabian peninsula. The goal is allegedly to set back Iran's nuclear program by several years, writes Uglanov, whose article was re-issued by RIA-Novosti in various languages, but apparently not English, several days ago. The story is the top item on numerous Italian and German blogs, but so far appears to have been ignored by US websites.

Observers comment that this dispatch represents a high-level orchestrated leak from the Kremlin, in effect a war warning, which draws on the formidable resources of the Russian intelligence services, and which deserves to be taken with the utmost seriousness by pro-peace forces around the world.

Asked by RIA-Novosti to comment on the Uglanov report, retired Colonel General Leonid Ivashov confirmed its essential features in a March 21 interview: "I have no doubt that there will be an operation, or more precisely a violent action against Iran." Ivashov, who has reportedly served at various times as an informal advisor to Putin, is currently the Vice President of the Moscow Academy for Geopolitical Sciences.

Ivashov attributed decisive importance to the decision of the Democratic leadership of the US House of Representatives to remove language from the just-passed Iraq supplemental military appropriations bill which would have demanded that Bush come to Congress before launching an attack on Iran. Ivashov pointed out that the language was eliminated under pressure from AIPAC, the lobbing group representing the Israeli extreme right, and of Israeli Foreign Minister Tsipi Livni.

"We have drawn the unmistakable conclusion that this operation will take place," said Ivashov. In his opinion, the US planning does not include a land operation: " Most probably there will be no ground attack, but rather massive air attacks with the goal of annihilating Iran's capacity for military resistance, the centers of administration, the key economic assets, and quite possibly the Iranian political leadership, or at least part of it," he continued.

Ivashov noted that it was not to be excluded that the Pentagon would use smaller tactical nuclear weapons against targets of the Iranian nuclear industry. These attacks could paralyze everyday life, create panic in the population, and generally produce an atmosphere of chaos and uncertainty all over Iran, Ivashov told RIA-Novosti. "This will unleash a struggle for power inside Iran, and then there will be a peace delegation sent in to install a pro-American government in Teheran," Ivashov continued. One of the US goals was, in his estimation, to burnish the image of the current Republican administration, who would now be able to boast that they had wiped out the Iranian nuclear program.

Among the other outcomes, General Ivashov pointed to a partition of Iran along the same lines as Iraq, and a subsequent carving up of the Near and Middle East into smaller regions. "This concept worked well for them in the Balkans and will now be applied to the greater Middle East," he commented.

"Moscow must expert Russia's influence by demanding an emergency session of the United Nations Security Council to deal with the current preparations for an illegal use of force against Iran and the destruction of the basis of the United Nations Charter," said General Ivashov. "In this context Russia could cooperate with China, France and the non-permanent members of the Security Council. We need this kind of preventive action to ward off the use of force," he concluded.

Common Dreams, one of the largest liberal websites, has a front-page story called "Easter Surprise: Attack on Iran, New 9/11… or Worse". The story comes so close, yet doesn't connect the dots. Specifically, it documents that:

(1) the U.S. plans to invade Iran very soon, on a pre-set timetable, despite its denials;

(2) another 9/11 type attack will be the precipitating cause;

3) Iran will not necessarily be behind the attack, but will be blamed anyway; and

(4) the attack will lead to a suspension of constitutional freedoms and liberties.

The article has everything EXCEPT the fact that the attack will be a false flag attack. How can the U.S. be assured that a terror attack will be carried out according to its very short timetable unless it does it itself?

They're going to dig up Harry Houdini. They want to see if he was poisoned by a powerful league of spiritualists for exposing their phony séances. The doctor who'll examine the remains also exhumed Jesse James's coffin a few years ago--to see if the outlaw outwitted authorities by having another man buried in his place.

People love a good conspiracy theory, which may be one of the reasons that actor Charlie Sheen is going to narrate a documentary about how the World Trade Towers were brought down by the U.S. government. About the same time, Rosie O'Donnell added her credibility to the project.

It was an interesting coincidence that their announcements hit the news just as the military released Khalid Sheikh Mohammed's confession regarding his role in planning the 9/11 attacks--and a lot more. Of course, we didn't really need his confession, because his career has been so well documented.

But sure enough, the terrorist's admissions instantly drew sneers, and not just from the tin-foil hat crowd. Well-placed people acted like Mohammed's smug confessions meant nothing.

A lot of people have at least a little in common with Sheen and O'Donnell. They just don't like to think about how much our enemies actually hate us. It's easier to escape down a rabbit hole to a land where our own government is tricking us into thinking the world is a dangerous place.

This would be the same government that can't even keep our most secret surveillance programs out of the newspapers.

Independent Investigators Release Suppressed Blueprints of Destroyed World Trade Center Tower

Scans of original drawings of the North Tower of the World Trade Center have been published online by a coalition of independent 9/11 researchers and journalists.

Berkeley, CA (PRWEB) March 27, 2007 -- A coalition of independent 9/11 investigators and journalists today announced the online publication of a set of original blueprints of the North Tower of the World Trade Center. The set is composed of over 200 never-before-published drawings, including plans, elevations, and details, given to physicist Dr. Steven E. Jones by an individual interested in a more complete analysis. Groups presenting the plans include Scholars for 9/11 Truth and Justice, 9-11 Research, and Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth. A multi-resolution drawing viewer for the blueprints is located at 9-11 Research (http://911research.wtc7.net/).

Richard Gage, AIA, Architect, the founder of Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth, said, "We cannot truly understand what happened in these historical structural failure events when we are not allowed access to the construction documents." Gage believes that, given the profound differences in the official collapse theories, the need for more investigation is clear. "First they come up with the "pancake theory", then they changed it to the "column failure theory". We don't believe that either of those theories are supported by the available evidence."

Since the 9/11 attacks, numerous groups and individuals have challenged the official explanation that the Twin Towers experienced total structural collapse due to a combination of aircraft impact and fire damage. Challengers assert that the WTC Towers were destroyed by pre-planted explosives, rather than fires and impact damage.

"The only theory that is supported by the evidence is controlled demolition with explosives," Gage says. "You could never get a collapse event of that speed through 80 floors of intact steel structure. The laws of physics simply don't allow it."

The most recent version of the official explanation has been supplied by the three-year multi-million-dollar study of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), which abandoned the earlier truss-failure-based "pancake" theory proposed by FEMA's 2002 Building Performance Study in favor of a theory of "global collapse" induced by a chain of events including impact column damage, dislodging of fireproofing, floor sagging, and "column instability".

Although NIST's 2005 Final Report (PDF) did not explain how collapse initiation led to global collapse, in 2006 it responded to some aspects of the demolition theory in a Frequently Asked Questions sheet. NIST blamed the speeds of the failures on the momentum of the falling top portions of the buildings, stating that "the momentum . . . so greatly exceeded the strength capacity of the structure below, that it was unable to stop or even to slow the falling mass. The downward momentum felt by each successive lower floor was even larger due to the increasing mass."

Dr. Steven Jones, Kevin Ryan, Jim Hoffman, and others responded to the FAQ on websites and via emails, but received no more communication from NIST.

The release of the blueprints is believed to be the first public presentation of a significant number of detailed architectural drawings of the destroyed skyscrapers. In 2002, lead FEMA investigator Gene Corley of the American Society of Civil Engineers was denied access to the plans by the Port Authority until he agreed to sign a waiver stating that his group would not use the blueprints to sue the agency. Corley and other officials testifying before a House Science Committee inquiry into the collapse drew angry comments from members of Congress regarding the withholding of the blueprints and the removal and scrapping of approximately 80% of structural steel from the debris pile without examination by any fire experts.

Another expert at the hearings, Glenn Corbett, a fire science expert from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in Manhattan, stated, "The lack of significant amounts of steel for examination will make it difficult, if not impossible, to make a definitive statement as to the specific cause and chronology of the collapse." Investigators at the time stated that they did not have the authority to preserve the wreckage as evidence.

Public access to blueprints of the three destroyed skyscrapers - the Twin Towers and WTC Building 7 - has been a long-standing goal of the 9/11 research community. The inability to access data on the structural design of the buildings has been an impediment to further investigation of the theory, these researchers say. One goal they have is to remodel the collapses and see if NIST's findings can be replicated.

"A key element of the scientific method is reproducibility - can others repeat the experiment and get the same results?" Jim Hoffman said, investigator and creator of wtc7.net . "Without the original data, findings cannot be examined scientifically. Even the most prominent scientists and engineers in history have made mistakes. But without the ability to try to replicate others' findings, we might keep on making the same mistakes over and over."

Groups releasing the plans cite support for the demolition theory in their organizations and elsewhere by a variety of professionals including structural and civil engineers, architects, and physicists. Supporters point to several features which they say cannot be explained by a gravity-driven collapse, including the speed, symmetry, explosiveness, thoroughness of pulverization, and totality of these events, and numerous reports of molten metal pools in the debris piles.

The research of physicist Steven E. Jones has focused on the molten metal pools found in basement areas under rubble piles of the Twin Towers and Building 7. He states in his paper "Why Indeed Did the World Trade Center Buildings Completely Collapse," that the observations of molten metal "are consistent with the use of high-temperature cutter charges such as thermite . . . routinely used to melt / cut / demolish steel."

Neither of the government-sponsored engineering studies of the Twin Towers' destruction - FEMA's and NIST's - disclose core column dimensions - dimensions now apparent in the blueprints. Hoffman believes these studies minimized the strength of the cores and their structural role, as did the Commission Report. "The Commission Report denied the existence of the core columns," he says, "describing each Tower's structural core as 'a hollow steel shaft.'"

Hoffman says that the newly released blueprints show what analysis of independent investigators have long held on the basis of construction photographs and scattered reports in journals, such as the Engineering News Record, from the era of the Towers' construction: "The Towers contained 47 large core columns, more than a dozen of which retained dimensions of 54 x 22 inches through the 66th floor, and tapered in stages on higher floors. The core columns around the South Tower's crash zone were about twice as heavy as those in the North Tower's crash zone."

Hoffman's associate editor, Gregg Roberts, sees the NIST Final Report as a whitewash. "The refusal by NIST to fully disclose its computer models, its assumptions, and the conflicts of interest of the many defense contractors who assisted in this whitewash of an investigation reveal the true intentions behind the Report."

Groups investigating the Towers' destruction also cite the case of the collapse of WTC Building 7. In 2004, during the 9/11 Commission hearings, the 9/11 Family Steering Committee asked of the Commission, "On 9/11, no aircraft hit WTC 7. Why did the building fall at 5:20 PM that evening?"

The group formed in the fall of 2001 to demand an independent investigation into the attacks. However, 70 percent of the questions were either not sufficiently addressed or not addressed at all by the Commission. NIST has not yet released a final report on the proposed cause for the collapse of WTC 7, nor did the Commission mention that building in its Final Report. The newly released blueprints do not include WTC 7, built 10 years after the main World Trade Center complex.

Jones has described the type of investigation he would like to see. He states in his paper, "A truly independent, cross-disciplinary, international panel should be formed. Such a panel would consider all viable hypotheses, including the pre-positioned-explosives theory, guided not by politicized notions and constraints, but rather by observations and calculations, to reach a scientific conclusion."

Critics of the Bush Administration's secretive policies have claimed that the alternative accounts of the attack have thrived in part because of the lack of information such as the WTC blueprints.

He served as an economist for eight years, and then moved to a senior analyst position in a new department researching financial market and payment system risk policy issues. In late 2003, he was asked to consider an assignment in the money laundering area. Bergman accepted the assignment, underwent a background check, received credentials affording access to confidential banking information, and began working in the area. One aspect of the assignment to the money laundering area was for Bergman to develop a paper that, if accepted, could serve as a reference source for the Federal Reserve System.

Iraqi deaths survey 'was robust'

The British government was advised against publicly criticising a report estimating that 655,000 Iraqis had died due to the war, the BBC has learnt.

Iraqi Health Ministry figures put the toll at less than 10% of the total in the survey, published in the Lancet.

But the Ministry of Defence's chief scientific adviser said the survey's methods were "close to best practice" and the study design was "robust".

Another expert agreed the method was "tried and tested".

Mortality rates

The Iraq government asks the country's hospitals to report the number of victims of terrorism or military action.

Critics say the system was not started until well after the invasion and requires over-pressed hospital staff not only to report daily, but also to distinguish between victims of terrorism and of crime.

The Lancet medical journal published its peer-reviewed survey last October.

It was conducted by the John Hopkins School of Public Health and compared mortality rates before and after the invasion by surveying 47 randomly chosen areas across 16 provinces in Iraq. continued &rarr

This brief video opens with gray smoke mysteriously emanating from WTC-7. A fireman warns his comrades on what to do if WTC-7 comes down! A policeman then demonstrates this same type of foreknowledge! We are shown scores of people & reporters who have assembled behind police barricades about a half-mile north of WTC-7, obviously waiting for something to happen!

Among the crowd watching WTC-7 is gatekeeper Amy Goodman of "Democracy Now!". As WTC-7 begins to implode in a controlled demolition, Ms. Goodman yells, "Oh God", & she runs through the crowd! (I made 2 screenshots of Ms. Goodman that appear at the end of the clip.)

Who gave all these people the info that they should stand by & observe WTC-7??? Why has Ms. Goodman never revealed this shocking scene that she eye-witnessed??? Why did she wait in the street before 5:20 pm on 9/11, looking directly at WTC-7???

9-11: Can You Handle The Truth?

9-11 is one of the most infamous days of our current time. Many people experienced the events of that day with surprise, shock, sadness, and anger. I am one of them.

All of these emotions clouded my judgment until I early on discovered an entire, very credible counter culture for lack of a better term that from almost day one has researched and opposed the official government story parroted by the mainstream. This counter culture that involves people and experts from all walks of life has been mostly unable to get an honest spirited debate in the mainstream without being labeled nut cases and anti-American. Why is this?

DENIAL AND DISMISSAL

In my study of the events of that fateful day, I have encountered two primary reasons why most people dismiss an engaging debate on the subject:

1. The Government cannot do anything right let alone keep a grand conspiracy like this under wraps

2. George Bush, as hated as he is, especially by the liberal media would incite responses/investigations from those in the media to expose him for being part of it.

There should be a national and ongoing debate among participants of both sides of the aisle bringing key facts, figures, and witnesses to bear to bring into the open a true discussion. After all, if the government has nothing to hide, why is there no debate on one of the most important issues of our time, in which wars are being justified, liberties trashed, literally trillions of dollars spent, laws and agencies erected which are classically un-American or unconstitutional, and society re-engineered?

Obviously we are no longer truly free, if this debate is stifled in any way.

DEALING WITH PAINFUL REALITY

Unfortunately, a religious like fervor cemented by fear and denial prevents most people from acknowledging facts and easily-exposed misrepresentations by the powerful establishment.

Perhaps we should first ask: Do you believe the official 9-11 story as told by our government and mainstream media from beginning to end?

We then come to the unavoidable question: Do you really want to know the truth about 9-11?

Most people will instinctively answer "yes of course" to this question, but reality differs from their answers much like it would if you were to ask someone if they recently lied or cheated. continued →

Offering the entire 18 minute segment will probably result in Bill calling on Fox security to pay us a visit so here's a 9 minute clip instead.

O'Reilly admits right off the bat that he has not even seen Loose Change, following in the trend of his fellow debunkers who have already arrived at a judgment without even checking the evidence. Bill's mind is made up! Don't bother him with the facts!

This painfully underscores exactly what this whole charade represents, not an open debate on the evidence, but a cynical attempt to smear Charlie Sheen, Rosie O'Donnell and Mark Cuban.

FOX News' Bill O'Reilly warned actor Charlie Sheen not to do narration for a theatrical version of Loose Change, threatening "If he voices this, he's through" and stating plainly, "Don't do this. You're not gonna come back from it if you do."

This follows a hit piece by the New York Post's Page 6 who suggested "some celebrities don't know when to keep their mouths shut" after reporting on mainstream actors Rosie O'Donnell and Charlie Sheen's 'throwing their weight" behind 'twisted theories' regarding 9/11-- especially in light of reporting that Loose Change may be distributed by Dallas Mavericks owner and billionaire Mark Cuban.

Despite mafioso-like tactics on the part of both O'Reilly and the Post, O'Reilly claimed that his attempt at intimidation was "not a threat" while his guest, Det. Bo Dietl, dog-piled into the cryptic warnings that "Martin Sheen's kid there better watch it."

In reality, O'Reilly is so desperate to contain 9/11 Truth-- and bat away support from mainstream celebrities from publicly supporting what he calls the "far-left fringe-- that he has little recourse but to lump vague threats on top of untenable straw men arguments and ad hominem attacks-- which were also included in the hit piece.

Guest Det. Bo Dietl claimed that 9/11 Truth was a "disgrace to the families"-- despite that fact that most of the families support a new, independent investigation of 9/11 and that the head of the largest 9/11 families group, Bill Doyle, knows that 9/11 was an inside job. Doyle also reports that over half of the families completely distrust the government's official story.

Guest Gerald Posner-- also a shill/author for the JFK official story-- slandered that O'Donnell's posting of information about the WTC7 collapse shouldn't be allowed and is like saying the "Holocaust didn't exist." This anti-semitic theme was repeated by he and other guests in attempts to compare Loose Change "propaganda" with that of the 3rd Reich and to link 9/11 Truth with theories that Israel carried out the attacks.

Meanwhile, what the New York Post called 'Hollywood's 9/11 Idiot Brigade' was also referred to on FOX as "wackos," "complete moron stuff" and-- conversely-- 'slick disinformation' 'like Oliver Stone's JFK propaganda' film.

While Dietl threatened "We won't watch that 2 1/2 kids thing at all," it was clear in O'Reilly's demeanor that full realization of defeat had sunk in-- the 9/11 cover-up had failed.

Just as Det. Dietl tried to explain away the WTC7 implosion-- which he acknowledged, but claimed was due to the 'heaviness' of debris from the towers, which he said "melted like potato chips"-- O'Reilly cut off his side's fruitless attempts to debate on the basis of logical, "DON'T CONFUSE THEM WITH FACTS" bridging instead into more familiar territory-- "I just don't get the hatred for the country."

Retired Colonel Ann Wright Arrested at Judiciary Committee

Capital Police arrested a 26 year veteran of the United States Army and Reserve as she quietly exited the House Judiciary committee hearing on the "FBI's Use of National Security Letters." Retired Colonel Ann Wright voiced opposition to the committee's lack of oversight before being asked leave by Rep. John Conyers, House Judiciary Chair. As Wright left the hearing room, Conyers asked Capital Police to escort her out. Despite orders from Conyers not to arrest her, Capital Police officers arrested her for exercising her first amendment rights. She is being processed at the D Street Station but has not been notified of any charges.

This is the second times in less than a week that a citizen opposing the Iraq war in Congress was subject to a random arrest. Last Thursday, CODEPINK Co-Founder Gael Murphy and two other CODEPINK members were arrested outside the House Appropriations Committee hearing. As documented on YOUTUBE, Capital Police aggressively arrested Murphy and prevented citizens from attending the hearing on the Supplemental Funding for the Iraq War.

Retired Colonel Wright served for 26 years in Army and the Army Reserves and served 15 years in the Diplomatic Corp. She received the State Department's Award for Heroism as Charge d'Affaires during the evacuation of Sierra Leone in 1997. She resigned from her post as Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in 2003 due to her opposition to the war on Iraq. In her letter of resignation to then Secretary of State Colin Powell Wright explained, "I have served my country for almost thirty years in the some of the most isolated and dangerous parts of the world. I want to continue to serve America. However, I do not believe in the policies of this Administration and cannot defend or implement them. It is with heavy heart that I must end my service to America and therefore resign due to the Administration's policies".

Depending on one's point of view, Rosie O'Donnell is either a silly comedian that uses humor and takes shots at politicians and celebrities for ratings or a shrill pundit that tries to cash in on others popularity to advance her agenda. I usually fall in the latter category, but her recent political commentary has revealed that she is quite short when it comes to the lessons of civics and the workings of the United States government.

But now it appears her toes are no longer just on the edge of the ledge of reason. Now O'Donnell has plunged into the dark world of 9/11 conspiracy theories and is set to blame the US Government for the attacks that took place on September 11.

Second. It should now be clear even to the most rabid partisan apologist for Bush administration wrongdoing that Valerie Plame was a covert operative, that her identity and status were classified, and that she had performed abroad within the last five years.

Third. I know and admire Valerie Plame and consider her an American hero, an American patriot, and an invaluable national resource in defeating global terrorism who has been compromised by shameless and despicable acts, by partisans and ideologues.

The president of the United States owes Valerie Plame and every covert officer a profound apology.

The president of the United States owes the vice president and Karl Rove an aggressive, severe, and public reprimand, at a minimum.

The president of the United States owes the American people, our covert officers and the rule of law an ironclad commitment that he will not issue a pardon to anyone convicted in this case.

Having been involved in writing this law for so long, I have, unlike some others, avoided comment on legal guilt or innocence and have avoided any public discussion that could have even remotely reached or influenced the jurors in this case.

When The Washington Post ran thousands of words on its editorial page, its opinion page, its “Outlook” section and even its “Style” section in the hours before the case went before the jury, and I was offered a modest 170 words representing so many not taking the pro-Libby position, even then I avoided discussion of guilt or innocence to make the larger point.

3. When you speak of Bobby, you often mention the phrase, "Knowledge Is Power". In trying to understand your son's death, what reports/books have you read?

In the last 51/2 years I have read at least a hundred books and many, many reports and documents. I have covered the entire century trying to fully understand how this world works. I also have read the majority of 9/11 books. To understand 9/11, it is important to know how governments work, especially the clandestine aspect. What I have learned is that all governments have a total disregard for human life. The "ends will always justify the means." Ben Hecht’s Perfidy has probably had the most profound influence on my outlook concerning governments. As Ben stated in his preface; "I have no reverence for the all-powerful and bewildered face of government. I see it as a lessening of the human being, and a final looting of his birthright-the survival of his young. I see it as an orge with despair in its eyes."

4. To my knowledge, you attended every hearing of the 9/11 Commission. Of the people that testified before the Commission, which ones were you interested in the most, and what questions weren't asked of them that you would have like to have seen asked?

There is no reason to talk about the 9/11 Commission. It was a sham and a farce. As Ben-Veniste stated; "this is not an investigation but merely an exposition." Or as Bob Kerry stated: "We’re not here to blame anyone." Their only job was to parrot the government’s story.

5. One of the questions we hear within the movement a lot is, "Where are the family members that think as we do? Why aren't they speaking out?" In the past, you have told me that a lot of the family members have tried to move on. To try and ease the pain by not focusing on the event. Do you think if the movement gains enough momentum, or enough attention that more family members will start to speak out?

I believe more families will begin to speak out. More are reading and browsing the internet. As they become more knowledgeable they will develop the confidence to speak up.

6. What words of wisdom could you share with the "Anti-War Movement" to help them understand that the truth of 9/11 is their cause as well?

Although I support the anti-war movement and I believe that all wars are evil, I do think that the movement is missing the point. Obviously 9/11 is the root cause of everything. Many of the people in the movement supported the occupation of Afghanistan, believing that Afghan was the home of terrorism. The "war on terrorism" is a hoax. The government has lied to us since 3000 people died on 9/11/2001. The whole system is rotten and the Iraq occupation is just a rotting branch on a tree that is dead and must be dug up by the roots and replanted.

7. If you had the opportunity to have Dick Cheney under oath, what questions would you like him to answer?

Big Dick, even under oath, would continue to lie. He has no conscience. Therefore, I would ask some yes and no questions.

• What is the punishment for Treason?
  
• Should people be put to death for first degree murder?
  
• Is protecting our nation part of your job description?

• Finally, should public officials be executed if it’s proven beyond a reasonable doubt that they were guilty of murder in the first degree?

Was Osama Bin Laden responsible for 9/11?

The Bush Administration says yes, citing a grainy, badly-edited videotape that surfaced in December, 2001. In that tape, a fat guy who vaguely resembles Bin Laden chortles about the success of the 9/11 attacks. (In earlier interviews, Bin Laden had denied responsibility for 9/11, once even deploring the loss of civilian life in the attacks and calling them un-Islamic.) 

Is the famous “confession video” genuine? Despite Bush’s insistence that the tape is authentic, America’s top academic Bin Laden expert has finally gone on the record, joining numerous other experts. “It’s bogus,” says Professor Bruce Lawrence, head of Duke University’s Religious Studies program.  

Lawrence, author of Messages to the World: The Statements of Osama Bin Laden, offered his historic debunking of the administration’s lie in an interview with Kevin Barrett (“Dynamic Duo,”gcnlive.com, 2/16/2007, first hour). The interview marked Lawrence’s first major public statement sincehe made headlines last year by suggesting that recent Osama tapes are hoaxes and that the real Osama Bin Laden may be dead. 

Why has the Bush Administration been lying for more than five years by telling us that this preposterously bad hoax is a genuine “confession video”?  Lawrence, citing informants in the US intelligence apparatus’s Bin Laden units, said they all know the tape is fake, adding that the hoax has been kept alive because it is politically useful to those who wish to deflect attention from “conspiracy theories” about 9/11.

The history of banana growing in Central America is closely tied to the history of politics in the same area from the 1880's through the 1970's. Prior to 1870, bananas were unknown in the United States. The first bananas were imported to the U.S. in 1870 and just 28 years later, Americans in the U.S. were consuming over 16 million bunches a year. The story begins in 1871 with the construction of a railroad in Costa Rica by an industrious 23 year old from Brooklyn named Minor Keith. The project cost hundreds of lives, including the lives of his two brothers. Keith was a man who would do anything to advance his own interests. He even married the daughter of the Costa Rican President. His efforts paid off and eventually he earned the title "The Uncrowned King of Central America".

While Keith was building the railroad in Costa Rica he was also executing a much bigger plan. As construction progressed, he planted bananas on the land easements to either side of the tracks. The bananas flourished and with the railroad completed it was possible to economically transport the bananas to eager markets in the United States and Europe. Ten years later, Keith owned three banana companies. Keith then joined up with a Cape Cod sailor, Captain Lorenzo Baker and a Boston businessman, Andrew Preston. Together they raised the money to found the Boston Fruit Company. In 1899, the Boston Fruit Company and the United Fruit Company (UFCO) merged, thus forming the largest banana company in the world with plantations in Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Panama and Santo Domingo. They also owned eleven steamships, known as the Great White Fleet plus 30 other ships rented or leased. The company also owned 112 miles of railroad linking the plantations with ports.

A video has just surfaced which partially corroborates William Rodriguez's testimony. In it (the second interview in the video below), a worker states that there was an explosion in the basement of one of the Twin Towers, and that he saw a guy with his "skin hanging off".

While the gentleman being interviewed does not give a timeframe for the events he witnessed -- and the most stunning part of Rodriguez's testimony is that the sub-basement explosion occurred before the plane hit -- this is a step forward.

Captain America died last week, but not too many people noticed.

It made few headlines, people shed few tears, and he probably won’t even get a real funeral. Granted, he’s not a real person, but he was a true patriot—even if only in the comic book world. He battled the Nazi-regime of Adolf Hitler in 1941, was lauded by multiple U.S. presidents for his service to our country, and helped save the world countless times. Even for people like me, who haven’t read a comic book in 15 years, the name is iconic—a lasting symbol of devotion to one’s country.

And in the aftermath of his fictional death by a fictional sniper bullet in the most recent issue of the popular Marvel comic book bearing his name, his creators have taken the opportunity to make a worthy statement about a number of issues. And it didn’t matter if they were jingoists or turncoats, left-wing or right—the onus was on Captain America’s writers to take advantage of their ability to reach to a broad and responsive audience by saying something worthwhile in the issue. And they did.

Far too often, we pigeonhole comic and kid-oriented works into neat and tidy categories, forcing them to conform to the comic book’s stereotypical nerdy, science-fiction minded readership. But when the artists and authors step outside the kiddy confines of the genre, the results can be inspiring.

Within three hours of the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon, Robin Hordon knew it was an inside job. He had been an Air Traffic Controller (ATC) for eleven years before Reagan fired him and hundreds of his colleagues after they went on strike in the eighties. Having handled in-flight emergencies and two actual hijackings in his career, he is well qualified to comment on what NORAD should have been able to achieve in its response to the near simultaneous hijacking of four domestic passenger carriers on the morning of September 11th, 2001.

“There had to be something huge to explain why those aircraft weren’t shot down out of the sky. We have fighters on the ready to handle these situations twenty-four-seven. We have NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command) monitors monitoring our skies twenty-four-seven. We have a lot of human beings, civilian and military, who care about doing their jobs.”

I spoke to Mr. Hordon one afternoon at a coffee shop in Bremerton, Washington.

“You have to understand the emotions, the duty, the job of an ATC. We are paid to watch aircraft go across the country.”

It’s clear that Hordon is passionate about the subject. A lot of people are. The dark questions that the attacks have left lingering in the national psyche have been recorded. 49% of New Yorkers believe that the government had something to do with 9/11. Following an interview with Charlie Sheen, a CNN poll revealed that 82% of respondents believed that there was “a government cover-up of 9/11.” Jay Leno asked Bill Maher on The Tonight Show about the fact that 37% of Americans (according to Scribbs-Howard) believe that the government was involved in some way with the attacks (Maher was definitely not one of them).

July 7th as Machiavellian State Terror?

Introduction

Early reports likened the 2005 July 7th London bombings to Nazi air attacks on Britain more than sixty years earlier. A Sun leader on July 8 declared: “Our spirit will never be broken: Adolf Hitler's Blitz and his doodlebug rockets never once broke London's spirit."2 The comparison stuck, though the July explosions appear dwarfish beside savage Luftwaffe devastation of London, Coventry and other civilian targets. Indeed ever since September 11 media commentators have portrayed Islamic fanaticism as an eruption of evil unprecedented since Hitler’s bloody European rampage.

In this essay I want to draw a different parallel, though one that returns to World War II aerial warfare and its relation to so-called Islamofascism. July 7th resembles in many respects two other instances of terror on a world-historical scale: the Dallas shooting of President John F. Kennedy in 1963 and bin Laden’s nightmarish September flights into the Twin Towers and the Pentagon. Like these earlier incidents, the London bombings may be an instance of what I have called Machiavellian state terror, spectacular violence perpetrated against the state by elements of the state itself.3 This form of terror advances domestic and/or foreign policy goals of the established order, and may involve assaults (real or fabricated) on the state’s own military, on innocent civilians, or on political leaders. Government sources and compliant media rush to blame a convenient foe, whether another nation, a political or ethnic group, or a “lone nut.”

CBS) NEW YORK There are new worries about the health of workers at Ground Zero following the death of a city transportation worker assigned to the site.

Patricia Rooney says toxic dust killed her husband, Phillip. She is still coming to grips with what she lost.

She buried her husband of 12 years on Monday, a city transportation worker who was 35 when assigned to work at Ground Zero, 38 when the blood cancer started to waste him and 41 when he died. She has no doubt it was the toxic dust and smoke of 9/11 that took Phillip before his time.

"He was fine until he went down there, a totally healthy man," Patricia said. "Prior to 9/11 he didn't have a job where he was associated with these high risks that are associated with leukemia like the benzene and all the toxins. His job was not like that. He had no job like that. There was nothing in his life to indicate for him to get cancer or the type of leukemia he got."

Legal Scholars Question 9/11

Many highly-qualified legal scholars believe that the horrible attacks of September 1, 2001, may intentionally have been allowed to happen or even been actively aided and abetted by elements within the United States government. Firefighters' Union Shuns Giuliani

The Firefighters' Union is holding a bipartisan election forum on March 14, 2007. They have invited several presidential candidates, but not Rudy Giuliani. Here is an excerpt of a statement from the firefighters:

"His actions post 9/11 rise to such an offensive and personal attack on our brother and sisterhood — and directly on our union — that the IAFF does not feel Rudy Giuliani deserves an audience of IAFF leaders and members at our own Presidential Forum.

The disrespect that he exhibited to our 343 fallen FDNY brothers, their families and our New York City IAFF leadership in the wake of that tragic day has not been forgiven or forgotten.

In November 2001, our members were continuing the painful, but necessary, task of searching Ground Zero for the remains of our fallen brothers and the thousands of innocent citizens that were killed, because precious few of those who died in the terrorist attacks had been recovered at that point.

Prior to November 2001, 101 bodies or remains of fire fighters had been recovered. And those on the horrible pile at Ground Zero believed they had just found a spot in the rubble where they would find countless more that could be given proper burial.

Nevertheless, Giuliani, with the full support of his Fire Commissioner Thomas Von Essen, decided on November 2, 2001, to sharply reduce the number of those who could search for remains at any one time. There had been as many as 300 fire fighters at a time involved in search and recovery, but Giuliani cut that number to no more than 25 who could be there at once.

In conjunction with the cut in fire fighters allowed to search, Giuliani also made a conscious decision to institute a "scoop-and-dump" operation to expedite the clean-up of Ground Zero in lieu of the more time-consuming, but respectful, process of removing debris piece by piece in hope of uncovering more remains.

Mayor Giuliani's actions meant that fire fighters and citizens who perished would either remain buried at Ground Zero forever, with no closure for families, or be removed like garbage and deposited at the Fresh Kills Landfill.

Our Local presidents at the time attempted to meet with the Mayor to stop this despicable treatment of those who perished, but he refused to even see them face-to-face.

The scoop-and-dump continued. And when hundreds of family members of the fallen joined with our affiliate leadership and members to protest Giuliani's decision, he ordered senior officers of the New York Police Department to arrest 15 of our FDNY brothers, including a number of local elected IAFF leaders.

Giuliani modified his policy after the protest because public opinion was so strongly with our members. Ultimately, he was forced to put the fire fighters back on the pile. Our protests were later proven justified as more bodies were ultimately recovered and those families given a chance for some closure and a decent burial.

Giuliani argued that the change was for our own safety, but his argument was empty and without substance. Fire fighters had been on that pile since minutes after the twin towers fell — why all of a sudden, after nearly two months working on the pile, was Giuliani concerned about fire fighter safety?

In our view, he wasn't really concerned. The fact is that the Mayor's switch to a scoop-and-dump coincided with the final removal of tens of millions of dollars of gold, silver and other assets of the Bank of Nova Scotia that were buried beneath what was once the towers. Once the money was out, Giuliani sided with the developers that opposed a lengthy recovery effort, and ordered the scoop-and-dump operation so they could proceed with redevelopment."

Morons and Magic: A Reply to George Monbiot

In “Bayoneting a Scarecrow The 9/11 conspiracy theories are a coward’s cult.” (Guardian, February 20), George Monbiot accuses members of the 9/11 truth movement of being “morons” and “idiots” who believe in “magic.” Having in his previous attack---“A 9/11 conspiracy virus is sweeping the world,” Guardian, February 6---called me this movement’s “high priest,” he now describes my 9/11 writing as a “concatenation of ill-attested nonsense.”

Would Monbiot really wish to apply this label to Michel Chossudovsky, Richard Falk, Ray McGovern, Michael Meacher, John McMurtry, Marcus Raskin, Rosemary Ruether, Howard Zinn, and the late Rev. William Sloane Coffin, who, after a stint in the CIA, became one of America’s leading civil rights, anti-war, and anti-nuclear activists?

If anyone who believes that 9/11 was an inside job is by definition an idiot, then Moncbiot would have to sling that label at Colonel Robert Bowman, former head of the U.S. “Star Wars” program; Andreas von Bülow, former State Secretary in the German Federal Ministry of Defense; former CIA analysts Bill Christison and Robert David Steele; former Scientific American columnist A. K. Dewdney; General Leonid Ivashov, former chief of staff of the Russian armed forces; Colonel Ronald D. Ray, former U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense; all the members of Scholars for 9/11 Truth, Scholars for 9/11 Truth and Justice, Veterans for 9/11 Truth, and Pilots for 9/11 Truth; and most of the individuals listed under “Professors Question 9/11” on the “Patriots Question 9/11” website.

One of the reasons these people reject the government’s conspiracy theory is that, if they were to accept the official account of the destruction of the World Trade Centre, they would need to affirm magical beliefs. A few examples:

The Twin Towers came straight down, which means that each building’s 287 steel columns all had to fail simultaneously; to believe this could happen without explosives is to believe in magic.

At the onset of each tower’s collapse, steel beams were ejected out as far as 600 feet; to believe that these horizontal ejections could be explained by gravitational energy, which is vertical, is to believe in magic.

Virtually all of the concrete in the towers was pulverized into extremely fine dust particles; to believe that fire plus gravity could have done this is to believe in magic.

WTC 7 and the towers came down at virtually free-fall speed, meaning that the lower floors, with all their steel and concrete, provided no resistance to the upper floors; to believe this could happen without explosives is to believe in magic.

Pools of molten metal were found under each building. Because steel does not begin to melt until it reaches about 1,540°C and yet the fires could not have gotten over 1000°C, to accept the fire theory is to believe in magic.

Monbiot, regarding the 9/11 truth movement’s conspiracy theory as a wrong-headed distraction, fails to see that the obviously false and truly distracting conspiracy theory is the official 9/11 myth, which has been used to justify imperial wars and increased militarism, thereby distracting attention from global apartheid and the ecological crisis. We focus on the 9/11 myth because, until it is exposed, getting our governments to focus wholeheartedly on the truly urgent issues of our time will be impossible.

WASHINGTON, DC - The Liberty Coalition, a transpartisan public policy group dedicated to preserving the Bill of Rights, personal autonomy and individual privacy today sent a petition signed by 30 liberal, libertarian and conservative groups including the American Civil Liberties Union, Citizen Outreach, OMB Watch, Electronic Privacy Information Center, Government Accountability Project, Electronic Frontier Foundation, and the National Coalition Against the Censorship to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform urging prompt hearings on the case of Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Whistleblower Sibel Edmonds.

Edmonds, a former FBI Language Specialist, brought charges of wrongdoing, criminal activity, cover-ups and national security threats inside the agency following the terrorist attacks of 9/11. Edmonds was promptly fired, which she asserts was an act of retaliation. The Department of Justice (DOJ) then used the State Secrets Privilege to shut down court proceedings in her case and prevent Congress from exploring the matter. Civil Liberties advocates argue that Edmonds’s case in an example of other instances where whistleblowers who tried to inform Congress and taxpayers about national security threats were intimidated silenced and retaliated against.

The trouble with thinking 9/11 was an inside job staged by George W. Bush & Co. is that it defies belief any U.S. president might be capable of such an iniquitous crime against his own people.

Yet, subsequent Bush actions, such as lying the nation into war against Iraq, makes one wonder if the man didn’t create the 9/11 massacres to justify his attacks on Afghanistan, Iraq, and Iran.

After all, his record reveals him to be a serial liar, warmonger, tyrant, torturer, and usurper of his peoples’ civil liberties. Just off the top, here are some illegal GWB actions that betray what he is really about.

# Bush lied the U.S. into what former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan called an “illegal” war on Iraq. This conflict has killed 650,000 civilians, wounded over a million more, drove nearly 2-million from their country, and turned life into a living hell for the rest. The death toll there is already equal to about 240 WTC massacres, yet Bush persists in waging the war.

# Bush okayed $1.5-trillion for new weapons' research including grisly weapons that would thrill mad scientists, such as sound waves that crush a victim's internal organs. Another gem is "rods from god" to hurl tungsten poles down from Earth orbit down upon its victims at 7,200 miles an hour, striking with the atomic fury. He is illegally militarizing space. These are not the dreams of a humanist.

# Bush has allowed illegal radioactive ammunition fired in Afghanistan and Iraq that poison civilian populations and U.S. troops, as well as cluster bombs. Does this evince concern for human life?

# Bush has made himself master of the greatest spy apparatus the world has ever known at a cost to taxpayers of $50-billion annually. He authorized NSA to spy illegally on Americans, allegedly to catch terrorists. If this was the true reason, why did he also eavesdrop on UN officials?

Bush authorized CIA agents to go to foreign countries to kidnap "suspects" and dump them in distant prisons to be tortured with no warrants signed to seize them, no charges brought against them, and no lawyers to defend them. In his secret prisons there may be many thousands held illegally, and tortured, while all the time he lies to the world "we don't torture." Is this a man with empathy for others?

# Bush is also funding hundreds of biotechnology labs to create deadly strains of exotic killer diseases at a cost to taxpayers of $40-billion. Many operate in secret, illegally violating transparency rules. On Bush’s watch, anthrax germs from a military laboratory in Fort Detrick, Md., were mysteriously unleashed upon two of his political opponents in the U.S. Senate that killed five people and sickened 17 others and temporarily shut down the Congress.

Peculiarly, the perpetrators of the anthrax panic and the massacres at the WTC and Pentagon have not been caught. “Why not?” Is it just possible the White House doesn’t want the killers apprehended?

For all these, and many other reasons, it’s worth hearing out the arguments of those who claim the 9/11 events were staged by the White House to rush a frightened nation into war.

In the March/April issue of "Tikkun", a bimonthly "Jewish Critique of of Politics, Culture & Society," author Dr. David Ray Griffin asserts the Administration never proved the 9/11 attacks were made by Osama bin Laden. Griffin, a professor of philosophy and theology at Claremont Graduate College, Calif., and author of “The New Pearl Harbor”(Olive Branch Press) writes the FBI has “no hard evidence” of his culpability.

Griffin asks why WTC building 7, not struck by an airplane, collapsed upon itself in the same manner as buildings 1 and 2, why no steel remained standing? And he notes steel does not melt until it reaches 2800 degrees F. and the jet fuel used by the airliners that hit WTC burned at only 1700 F.

Collapse of the three towers, he said, “manifested many standard features of the kind of controlled demolition known as implosion, such as: sudden onset; straight-down collapse; collapse at virtually free-fall speed, indicating the lower floors were offering no resistance; total collapse, indicating that the massive steel columns in the core of each building had been broken into many pieces; the production of molten metal, and the concurrence of multiple explosions.”

“Dozens of people, including journalists, police officers, WTC employees, emergency medical workers, and fire-fighters reported hearing explosions in the Twin Towers,” Griffin writes. One fire captain said he heard a series of explosions from the top floor down, one after another, “boom, boom, boom.” And a paramedic described them as akin to a “professional demolition where they set the charges on certain floors and then you hear ‘Pop, pop, pop, pop.”

“Complete collapses of steel-frame high-rise buildings have never been brought about by fire plus externally caused structural damage,” Griffin tells “Tikkun” readers. “Such collapses have only been caused by explosives used in controlled demolitions.”

If you wonder how saboteurs might plant explosives in the three WTC towers without being detected, Griffin notes on Web site “9.11 Truth” President Bush’s brother Marvin and his cousin Wirt Walker III “were both principals in the company in charge of security for WTC.” The firm, Securacom, was also responsible for electronic security at United Airlines, whose flights struck WTC.

Among Griffin’s charges, the most startling may be that Osama bin Laden, who was already one of America’s “most wanted” criminals, was treated in July, 2001 --- two months before 9/11 --- in the American Hospital in Dubai, and visited by the local CIA agent.

Does this explain why bin Laden was not caught and likely never will be caught? Is it possible this “renegade” from a prominent Saudi Arabian family having long ties to President Bush Sr. is in fact a fall guy whose alleged crimes gave Bush an excuse to invade Afghanistan and Iraq?

Congress needs to conduct a real investigation of 9/11. It may not only uncover ample grounds for impeachment but for criminal prosecution. Given GWB’s track record for criminal activity, treason cannot be ruled out.
