Court Rules NDAA Unconstitutional
TheBigPictureRT
Chris Hedges, Truthdig "The World As It Is: Dispatches on the Myth of Human Progress" joins Thom Hartmann. Civil liberties advocates led by journalists and writers Chris Hedges, Daniel Ellsberg, and Noam Chomsky secured a big victory yesterday. Federal Judge Katherine Forrest struck down the controversial indefinite detention provision passed and signed by President Obama on New Year's Eve last year as part of the National Defense Authorization Act . Judge Forrester agreed with the plaintiffs that the provision could chill the First Amendment and leave journalists vulnerable to indefinite detention if they associate with terrorist organizations while trying to cover stories. The Obama Administration is appealing the ruling.

First Responders Left in the Dust
TheBigPictureRT
John Devlin, 9/11 first responder & Kirk Arsenault, 9/11 first responder join Thom Hartmann. Now on to those who continue to struggle 11 years after the attacks. I'm talking about the 9/11 first responders - the police officers, firefighters, and volunteers who rushed to the rubble to look for survivors - and spent days, weeks, and months at ground zero recovering bodies and cleaning up the rubble. Those men and women are today dealing with sickness - unaware at the time that the air they were breathing at Ground Zero was toxic. Cancers, heart problems, and respiratory problems continue to plague the first responders today - and tragically - have led to the deaths of as many as 1,000 of these brave Americans. A year and a half ago - Congress passed the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act - to give sick first responders the healthcare they deserve for serving their nation. It was a hard fought victory just to get the bill passed - as Republicans in the House opposed it - with even Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan voting against it. But passing it was just the first battle - the next battle for responders was proving that the cancers and illnesses they suffer from were indeed caused by the toxic rubble at ground zero. Now - there might be some good news. On Monday - the National Institute for Occupational Safety announced they do recognize a link between more than 50 types of cancer and the work done at Ground Zero - thus giving health care coverage to more than 70,000 surviving first responders.

Zionist fingerprints all over 9/11 attacks: David Duke
PressTVGlobalNews
US President Barack Obama has signed a proclamation, designating the anniversary of the September 11 attacks as Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance.
In December 2001, the US Congress designated the anniversary of the attacks as Patriot Day. In April 2009, Congress requested the observance of the anniversary as an annually recognized National Day of Service and Remembrance.
Nearly 3,000 people died during the attacks on September 11, 2001, including two planes crashing into the North and South towers of the World Trade Center complex in New York City. Both towers collapsed within two hours.
However, there are still many unanswered questions regarding the attacks, and many believe that the whole incident was an inside job, designed to justify subsequent US-led wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Press TV has conducted an interview with David Duke, member of the House of Representatives, from New Orleans, to further discuss the issue.

9/11 Zionists' inside job: Analyst
PressTVGlobalNews
US President Barack Obama has signed a proclamation, designating the anniversary of the September 11 attacks as Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance.
"As we remember the victims, their families, and the heroes who stood up during one of our country's darkest moments, I invite all Americans to reclaim that abiding spirit of compassion by serving their communities in the days and weeks ahead," Obama said in a proclamation released Monday by the White House.
In December 2001, the US Congress designated the anniversary of the attacks as Patriot Day. In April 2009, Congress requested the observance of the anniversary as an annually recognized National Day of Service and Remembrance.
Meanwhile the US military has announced that a detainee at the Guantanamo Bay military prison has died over the weekend.
According to Amnesty International, of the 173 men held at Guantanamo Bay only three had been convicted under a military commission system, "which failed to meet international fair trial standards."
"Military commission proceedings were conducted in a handful of cases, and the only Guantanamo detainee so far transferred to the US mainland for prosecution in a federal court was tried and convicted," the international non-governmental organization pointed out.
Upon taking office, Obama signed an executive order to stop military commissions in order to close down the facility by 2010. However, this has not happened yet.
