"What's the temperature?"
"Minus 40 degrees" says the explorer.
"Is that Centigrade or Fahrenheit?" asks base.
"Put down Fahrenheit," says the explorer. "I don't expect it will matter."

Why does he say that?

Answer : -40 degrees Centigrade is the same as -40 degrees Fahrenheit.
