Pelosi and the Democrats Perpetuate Commission’s Betrayal & Cover-up of 9/11

Today, Speaker of the House Pelosi and several of her Democratic colleagues announced legislation (HR1) that would enact many more of the 9/11 Commission’s recommendations. It’s hard to argue with their oft repeated mantra that these recommendations will make us safer and no doubt some, perhaps most, will do so.

In her introductory remarks, Speaker Pelosi harkened back to the creation of the 9/11 Commission saying, “we promised to fight terrorism…to give comfort to the families.” Well, as is so often the case with the usual rhetoric about “making us safer” and “honoring the families” Speaker Pelosi is charging ahead with an agenda that overlooks one of the most discomforting realities, one that is all too often denied. According to Mindy Kleinberg and Lorie Van Auken, leading members of the Family Steering Committee, the Commission failed to answer 70% of their well-founded and well-researched questions.
