OccupyMN Celebrates Veterans Day with Calls to Stop War

UpTakeVideo on Nov 17, 2011
OccupyMN at The People's Plaza (Hennepin County Government Center) celebrated Veterans Day with a rally pleading for peace. Ordinary citizens joined the veterans in seeking to stop the dollar loss and human loss of the United States' current wars. These activists increasingly see these wars as profit-driven operations by the defense industry. Eleven vets committed to sleep on the plaza that night. Nov. 11 was originally established as Armistice Day to commemorate the First World War armistice on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. Congress declared it Veterans Day in 1954. As was the case with preceding rallies during the one month occupation, this rally was led by a mixture of loyal participants in the occupation and a batch of new people, often attending their first event of this nature.
