Despite backing the united statement on Syria, the U.S. is now calling for new, tougher sanctions against Damascus. Assad's regime is already under a set of American and EU penalties. Investigative journalist Webster Tarpley told RT, the West wants a Syrian regime change to cement its influence in the Arab world.
