Dramatic footage: Oil tanker blast kills 230 in Congo
July 04, 2010
Mass burial is underway in Democratic Republic of Congo after an explosion of a fuel tanker that left at least 230 dead, according to the latest figures. When oil began to spill from the overturned tanker across a village, locals tried to collect the oil, but one of them was smoking, causing the tanker to explode. The Red Cross says at least 61 children and 36 women are among the dead. UN peacekeepers say they have already evacuated over 200 injured from the scene.
