Are we close to a global bank tax?

Great Britain says that a global bank tax is around the corner, Prime Minister Gordan Brown says that top economies are close to reaching a tax on banks. In principle countries could agree to the tax this summer at a conference in Canada, however it will take years before it actually made an impact. The Obama administration disagrees with Prime Minister Browns plan and in order for this to work there must be global cooperation.
