30 the 'magic number' for deaths from US Air Strikes?
December 22, 2009
Bloggers have noticed a trend: In more than a dozen U.S. and NATO airstrikes in Afghanistan, the military has reported exactly 30 suspected Taliban were killed. Is thirty a "magic number" that allows the military to avoid oversight by the Pentagon? Or does the trend show there's no accurate way for the military to calculate these casualties on the ground?
