UK's National Health System under the microscope

The British National Health System was launched on a wave of political optimism in the wake of the Second World War - promising medical care from the cradle to the grave.
More than sixty years later it is the world's largest publicly funded health care system.
The great boast of the NHS is that it is free to all but it is rarely free from controversy.
