16-year-old American denied due process by Patriot Act
By David Edwards
Annette Lundeby says that her son, Ashton, has been denied his Constitutional rights because of the USA Patriot Act. Ashton Lundeby was arrested and detained at his North Carolina home on Mar. 5. Federal officals charge that he made a bomb threat on the night of Feb. 15.

Lundebys mother says that its a case of mistaken identity. She believes his IP address was stolen and used to make bomb threats via internet phone calls. Undoubtedly, they were given false information, or they would not have had 12 agents in my house with a widow and two children and three cats, Lundeby said.

Lundeby told the officers that someone had hacked into her sons IP address and was using it to make crank calls connected through the Internet, making it look like the calls had originated from her home when they did not, reported WRAL.

We have no rights under the Patriot Act to even defend them, because the Patriot Act basically supersedes the Constitution, she said. It wasnt intended to drag your barely 16-year-old, 120-pound son out in the middle of the night on a charge that we cant even defend.
