Welcome to NC Farm ID
As of October 22, 2007 there are 10,103 North Carolina farms registered in the national database!
NCFarmID is the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services' portion of the National Animal Identification System (NAIS). Through premises registration, a unique national identification number will be assigned to locations in North Carolina where animals are born, managed, marketed or exhibited.
NC is already at work on NAIS (National Animal Identification System) which is presented as harmless but is a ferocious Trojan horse! NAIS is promoted as a volunteer program. It is not! Participants of this year's State Fair were prohibit from entering without the proper Farm ID (NAIS).
NAIS was initially set up for big Agri business to monitor beef export during the mad cow scare. Like many other arrangements, the masses end up paying the price for the privileged. Large corporations can group animals together into one ID while the small farmer must register each animal individually. The cost of this program will crush our small farmers while giving the advantage to large corporate farming industries.
The goal of NAIS extends beyond livestock, and aims to include all pets and soon farm products. The USDA has repeatedly abused farmers through information available in the NAIS data base, including confiscation and destruction of herds, for no reason. NAIS infringes on people's constitutional rights, including due process, privacy, and religious freedom. There must be NO provision for NAIS in our upcoming national Farm Bill.
